The granite slabs that are used to make kitchen countertops can sometimes be damaged by extremely hot pots and pans though so home owners should be careful.

Granite and darker marbles are better equipped to conceal treated burn marks since the background has a darker shade along with dense graining.
Marble surfaces are more tedious to treat since the white backdrop is very difficult for concealing a burn mark.
Gently rub the affected area with the sandpaper using an even circular motion.
Be sure to use micro grit sandpaper with a very fine type grit for example 240.
While granite resists heat and does not burn a hot pan or pot may leave a mark on its surface.
Steps to remove the burn mark.
Apply a layer of white toothpaste to the scorch mark and allow it to set for several minutes.

Scrub the area lightly with either a scrub brush or toothbrush.
It is possible to sand away burn marks on the surface of solid surface countertops.
Burn marks will not go away on their own and need to be treated in order to get your countertop looking as good as new.
